Troy Shambhala in June

plantDear Troy Shambhala,

Spring is giving way to the vivid green action of Summer. A great way to participate in that action is to sit on a cushion and do nothing. Sitting each Tuesday in June is from 6:30-7:30 PM, as usual (at the summer location.) And do join us for the following extras after sitting:

June 2: Group dinner in downtown Troy
———————————————————–
June 9: Snack Salon – Feel free to bring something to share! Food, Conversation, and Meditation is the Sakyong’s prescription. We can do all of that in one shot!
———————————————————–
June 16: The Heart of Bravery audio teaching with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and Pema Chödrön (third installment)– Two of the world’s most beloved spiritual teachers and leading figures in the Shambhala tradition of Buddhism discuss the core principles and practices of the tradition and how personal meditation practice can forge an enlightened society. We will listen to selections from this retreat and reserve time for discussion.

Midsummer Day Community Celebration
This year the Shambhala Meditation Center of Albany is holding Midsummer Day at Brauer Environmental Center in Selkirk. Midsummer Day is a Shambhala holiday instituted by Trungpa Rinpoche in the 1970s. One of the four “nyida” days (from the Tibetan words for sun and moon), this holiday is celebrated around the summer solstice and gives family and friends in Shambhala the opportunity to enjoy summer fun together. The celebration will include a festival potluck, outdoor activities, music, a silent auction and lots of playing. The location is really cool, btw.

June 27 at 9:30 AM.
If you are interested in attending, tell us which dates work for you by replying to this email. Please answer by the week’s end so we can schedule our first meeting. And don’t forget we are in our temporary location during the summer construction: Refer to the original announcement below for directions.
